Travel to Vietnam and spend time teaching vulnerable children how to swim.

Swim Vietnam is a not for profit organisation based in Central Vietnam, which sets up swim schools, trains adults as swimming teachers and provides free swimming lessons for Vietnamese children. Drowning is one of the major causes of death in children over the age of one in Vietnam. It is called the “silent epidemic” by international aid agencies such as UNICEF. It's widely reported that the death toll from drowning is higher than the road toll. Reasons for the increasing number of child deaths from drowning include unsafe environments, limited awareness, inadequate adult supervision and a lack of swimming skills.

Swim Vietnam has been operating in Central Vietnam for 6 years providing free swimming lessons to Vietnamese children and is now giving qualified instructors the ability to join in and help at ground level. Participants will be following the Swim Vietnam program and duties will be flexible depending on what is needed at this time. To participate in swimming instruction you should have Australian swim accreditation and a current working with children police check.

In partnership with Swim Vietnam this trip has been designed so that you can experience the real Vietnam whilst at the same time you will provide vulnerable children with basic swimming and water safety skills. If you have a little bit extra time then why not take advantage of our 14 day option that also gives you the opportunity to explore the beauty and vibrancy of both DaNang and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Hue as well as Hoi An. We encourage partners and friends of volunteers to join the volunteers as the itineraries are designed for everyone to enjoy their time in Central Vietnam!
